PRODUCING - MIXING / MASTERING

Throughout 2023, my team within Vermilion Records have been working with the amazingly talented Maira. Over the course of the year, as part of this team I have co-produced, mixed, and mastered Maira’s massively successful single, “Afterthought”, which has amassed over 5000 streams on Spotify, and been played multiple times on 4ZZZ’s show Talkerspace in just three months since its release. I have also began producing a follow up single, with Maira and her band being much more involved in every facet of the recording process this time around, due for release in early 2024.

COMPOSING

Under the banner of the Vermilion Records Music House, I undertook a brief set by QUT’s Barrambin project which had me capture several field recordings of nature sounds in Victoria Park, and use them to create three musical soundscapes, one featuring a spoken word element written by Anneka-Rose Galletly and performed by Rachael Griffiths, that members of the Finding Barrambin team would use in their live interactive performances at the site of three art installation pieces as part of the Green Heart Fair in Victoria Park/Barrambin on the Sunday 28th May.

PERFORMANCE

As part of Maira’s team, when her band was suddenly in need of a new guitarist, I volunteered myself for the role. Since joining in late July, the band has rehearsed weekly and played shows at many venues around Brisbane, Ric’s, the Tivoli Beer Garden, and Junk Bar to name just a few. Though my time with Vermilion Records is coming to its end, I will be staying on as a permanent member of Maira’s band for the foreseeable future. I also joined another Vermilion artist on stage, playing bass guitar for a filmed live performance of RYN’s recent release “Wide Eyed”, as part of the label’s video series “Vermilion Presents”.
